Discovering the Arcachon Bay also means diving into the heart of its markets. From fresh seafood and local specialties to artisanal treasures, these markets are an essential part of the region’s charm.The area boasts around a dozen markets, both permanent and seasonal, each with its own unique atmosphere. Here are the ones you simply can’t miss!

 

Arcachon Market: a must-see, all year round!

Located on Place des Marquises, beneath the Baltard-style hall, the Arcachon market is a must-visit for both holidaymakers and locals. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. (daily during school holidays), it offers an incredible variety of products: ultra-fresh fish, local oysters, roasted poultry and a wide selection of fruits and vegetables,… Something to delight every palate!

But there’s more! In the summer, from mid-July to mid-August, the market takes on a new dimension at nightfall. Enjoy the night market from Tuesday to Friday, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.! You will discover a wide range of artisans showcasing their creations: jewelry, ready-to-wear clothing, home decor, natural cosmetics, wooden toys, books... all in a warm and lively atmosphere, with an open bar until 8:30 p.m., perfect for a refreshing break in the heart of this friendly vibe. A guaranteed good time!

Gujan-Mestras Market: local flavors and friendly vibes

In Gujan-Mestras, the market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., bringing together locals, visitors, and producers in an authentic and welcoming setting.

You will find all the essentials of the local terroir: Pyrenean ham, oysters from the Bassin d’Arcachon, seasonal fruits and vegetables… all with expert advice from passionate producers. Even in winter, this market remains vibrant on the Gujan train station square. A true moment of connection for both residents and visitors to enjoy year-round!

 

La Teste-de-Buch Market: the largest and most complete

Open every day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (except Mondays outside of peak season), the market of La Teste-de-Buch is a staple of the Bassin d’Arcachon. Located on Rue des Halles, right across from Saint-Vincent Church, it features over 20 indoor vendors and up to 200 outdoor exhibitors in the summer.

Open-air markets are held on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, while Friday mornings are dedicated to organic and fair trade products.
Fresh and organic produce, local specialties, flowers, clothing, leather goods… you will find everything here! It's a cornerstone of the local economy and one of the largest markets in Gironde. Definitely worth a visit!

 

Le Moulleau Organic Market: the summer gathering spot

And finally, for organic lovers, head to the Moulleau district in Arcachon! Every Saturday morning in July and August, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Avenue Notre-Dame des Passes hosts a market dedicated to local and organic products.
